Video Transcript for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controller Plug-and-Play Wiring Harness Review

Brad Hello neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer. And today we're taking a look at the vehicle-specific wiring harness, that will work in conjunction with the Tow-Pro Elite electric trailer brake controller. These harnesses are going to be great to work with your Tow-Pro Elite in a variety of different trucks and SUVs. Now, make sure that you get your vehicle-specific harness. You're going to want to use our fit guide on "etrailer.com", and that's going to make sure that you get the right harness, and that way your install goes nice and easy.

Included in the REDARC kit, you will find this plugin adapter, and this is going to have these spliced ends, and you're gonna have to tie into your brake signal, your brake output, your power output and your ground. Now, if you are pretty handy with electrical, that's awesome. That's great. You can use this. But I'm the kind of person, plug and play in OEM kind of setup or really nice factory one like this.

This is the vehicle-specific harness. So this ties in directly to our factory tow system, and clips right in, it's got this nice braided sheathing on it, to kind of protect the wires, and then it plugs directly into our module here. So, to save yourself a little bit of headache and time, and make the install go that much smoother, and not have to worry about loose connections, I highly recommend getting the vehicle-specific harness. So this end of the plug is specific to your vehicle. As you can tell, it looks like the factory plug, it fits in perfect, has the locking mechanism, so you aren't gonna have to worry about loose connections happening with your plug, and it's going to make install a lot easier.

And that was a look at the vehicle-specific harness for the Tow-Pro Elite electric trailer brake controller..

Perfect for installing my RedArc TowPro Elite in my 2022 Ford Bronco. Plug and Play - Note: In order to be a Plug and Play install, Your vehicle must already be equipped from the factory with the Towing Package, which means that it is PRE WIRED for the Trailer Brake Controller and there will be a large rectangular plug for the TPH-007 harness to plug into. If your vehicle was NOT equipped with a factory tow package, this connector will NOT BE THERE and you will need to run wires to the TowPro unit using the basic wiring harness that is supplied with the TowPro and you will need to run a trailer brake output wire to the rear of the vehicle at the 7-pin connector port.

Still working great!

by:

My Redarc Tow Pro Trailer Brake Controller has worked stellarly. It has occasionally had to self-recalibrate, but has done so successfully. On my end, I've needed to keep the contacts clean and make sure they're securely connected. I used a conduct-ant greece that prevented corrosion from hindering contact and would recommend its use. Thanks so much for an excellent component!

by:

I’d first state that I reached out to redarc, as that’s the items I purchased, they turned me to etrailer. When searching for my items it was super easy got them ordered and tracking after the fact was immediate. I have yet to install but am excited to do so. This option saved me roughly $700. I highly recommend etrailer for all your needs!

by:

Is perfect for the job . Exacto para mi Ford F150 2014

by:

Absolutely spot on. The adapter harness was perfect, the installation was easy, and the brake controller is excellent. Thank you etrailer!

by:

The TPH-007 is the correct cable for a 2022 E350 cutaway in the Thor motorhome. Just double check that your Ford plug has 4 pins. 3 in 1 row and 1 on another row.
If all 4 pins are in the same row you will need the TPH-005

Great product

by:

Had a harness for the nissan frontier, I am sure this will work just fine

by:

Easy to install and use. I love the fact that it is just a small knob poking through your dash somewhere instead of the black box hanging off the bottom of the dash.

by:

Delivered on tme
Product was in good
condition.
I did not install yet so i cannot review the brake controller.
I will use etrailer for All my future needs

No issues with the product

by:

I love redarc! Their products are simply the best out there. I run these on all my tow fleet. They are smart and learn your vehicle setup quickly. I would recommend this to anyone looking to add a trailer brake system into a vehicle. Easy to install, and no more hitting your knee on the controller because they are small and can be installed in various locations in the cab. Less than an hour install time the first one and then about 20 minutes to install them after the learning curve(ie. me…)

by:

4 stars vs 5 because I have not hauled yet with my Redarc brake controller yet. Mounted it where the factory brake controller would have gone and it looks great. Install only took a couple of hours. One thing that is worth mentioning is that the break controller may NOT light up after initial install if a trailer is not hooked up. I was expecting it to light up as it learned the mounting position as mentioned in the manual but it didn’t. After a call to the manufacturer hot line we were told this is the most common call they get and not to worry the install is correct. I’ll try to write another review after I’ve hauled a significant load (4 tons or more) and let you know how my Redarc break controller did.

by:

My 2015 Ford F150 needed a trailer brake controller for the small squaredrop trailer that we bought recently. I did a little research and found that the REDARC controllers were very highly regarded. Can't give you much of an analysis of its performance, but it went in very easily - everything is just plug and play - the unit figures out which way is forward and then you have the option of dialing in the exact amount of power going to the trailer brakes. The hardest thing was deciding where to drill the hole for the control knob!

by:

The Red-arc controller came missing the ring for the switch. The harness was spot on and easy to use.

The real travesty is etrailer shipping and customer service. Two weeks to arrive…… customer service contacted and couldn’t be less concerned, said call us if it does not come in three weeks from order….

Used to be a great place to shop and the customer service was top notch…..not so much anymore.

by:

This looks like it will make the brake controller installation simple.

This wire harness made it plug and play. I will be looking for Redarc for my next install.

by:

Easy hook up. Don’t waste time running new wires. Plugs into your factory wires. 2017 expedition

by:

Easy install, works great stopping my 30 foot travel trailer, I love the way you install the controller behind the dash and all you see is a little knob.Easy to adjust more brake or less brake with the turn of that little knob.

by:

Easy installation. Plug and play as des cribed.

by:

Installed in 2019 F-150. Not a whole lot of options on where to mount the remote switch on the dash. Mounted a plated of aluminum in the space where the factory control would be. The factory wiring was behind the dash in the back of the dummy cubby hole. The plug-and-play harness plugged directly into the Ford harness, then just had to clip off the black end and push the wires into the new connector supplied with the control module. The control module fit perfectly under the steering column, horizontally on a steel support plate. The next day, towed the trailer with two RZR's from WI to KS and back. Every thing worked perfectly.

by:

The rear truck suspension parts I ordered for my Ford f150 are working perfectly. This also includes the complete trailer braking control and wire kit.
Perfect road handling..

by:

What can I say? It makes installation a breeze grabbing the right harness. No searching, splicing, grounding, or fishing wires. Clean, professional, protected. This is my second time using these - wouldn't do it without.

by:

My 2012 F150 needed a brake controller for our new travel trailer and this adapter made the install plug and play without splicing wires. Plugs directly into the factory brake controller plug.

by:

I am very pleased with my brake controller. I would highly recommend it.

by:

This harness was exactly what I needed for our F150. It is working great.

by:

Installation was simple and straight forward. Check out the videos on the site. Performance is yet to be determined as I have yet to hook to our trailer.

  • 2023 Ford F-350 Having Issues With Electric Over Hydraulic Trailer Brakes
It is not uncommon for certain factory brake controllers to have issues with electric over hydraulic brakes. This would be the first we have heard of this issue with a 2023 Ford F-350, but it is possible that the brake controller in your ford is simply not compatible with electric over hydraulic brakes. There may be an adapter module available depending on what brand of actuator you have on your trailer so that is one option. If you can tell me the make and model of your actuator I can...

Hey Terral! The Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty # RED24FR can be used with your 2022 Ford Expedition. It is also the brake controller I recommend the most, great choice! Sometimes our guide lists things this way if a custom wiring harness isn't available from that manufacturer. However, a brake controller will fit any vehicle with a 7-way installed so it is incorrect. Since you have that port under the dash you will need the following to complete the installation: -Redarc Plug-and-Play Wiring Harness...

You mentioned that you have a 7 pole however, the back of the 7 pole will not be compatible with the way your factory wiring adapts from the truck to the plug.
